Urocit-k Side Effects
Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, or loose stools may occur the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop severe vomiting, Notify your doctor if you develop: severe vomiting, stomach pain, unusual weakness, mental changes, muscle pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, breathing trouble, tingling or numbness of the hands or feet, black tarry stools, unpleasant taste, nervousness. How To Use Urocit-k
UROCIT-K: Take UROCIT-K as prescribed, usually three times a day. Take this with meals or within 30 minutes after a meal to reduce stomach upset. Swallow each tablet whole followed by a full glass of water. Do not suck, chew or crush the tablets. Do not increase your dose or take this more often without your doctor's approval.
Urocit-k Uses
UROCIT-K makes the urine less acidic. It is used in the treatment of certain kidney disorders and gout. It may also be used with certain antibiotics to make them more effective.
Urocit-k Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have: kidney problems, heart disease, Addison's disease, high blood pressure, drug allergies. UROCIT-K should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of UROCIT-K are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Urocit-k Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: aspirin, water pills, potassium supplements, salt substitutes, steroids, medication for high blood pressure, quinidine, antacids, methenamine, ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, captopril). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Urocit-k Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include sluggishness, weakness, confusion, irregular heartbeat, or fainting.
Urocit-k Notes
While taking UROCIT-K it may be necessary for you to test the pH (acidity) of your urine using special test paper. The pH helps determine the proper dose. Do not be alarmed if a 'whole' tablet appears in the stool. It is the empty shell of the tablet.
Missed Urocit-k Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Urocit-k Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
